Dominicans pledge over $35,000 within three hours, towards court fees to be paid by Lennox Linton2/15/2016 Over EC$35,000 has been pledged by Dominicans both here and abroad in a drive to secure EC$48,000 to assist Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton in meeting legal fees, arising from a defamation law suit. Linton has up to February 22nd 2016 to pay £20,000 (EC$78,116.20) to Chartered Accountant Kieron Pinard-Byrne as ordered by the London based privy council for defamation. In the judgement delivered on January 29th 2016, Linton was given 21 days to pay the sum. Addressing party supporters at a public meeting last week, Linton indicated that he would do his best to pay the privy council order by the stated deadline. Today, Q95's Hot Seat host, Mathias Peltier Jr. hosted a Q95 on-air drive to collect the much needed funds. Hector John is Salisbury MP. Last month over $100,000 was raised by Dominicans both here and abroad in an effort to assist Linton to cover high court costs of almost $80,000 for the same defamation matter. Linton says the first effort yielded $30,000 more than what was needed and that will go towards the privy council costs.
