A letter served to Linton on by Pinard-Byrne's lawyers7th January, 2016 demanded that Linton pay almost $80,000 to the Chartered Accountant within seven days. It stated further that should he fail to comply with the demands, enforcement proceedings would be instituted against him or any property that he owns or has interests in.
In response to this, Listeners to Q95 spontaneously began a drive to pledge their financial support for Linton. Q95 and its Hot Seat Host Mathias Peltier Jr. opened up its telephone lines and allowed listeners at home and abroad to call in and pledge over a period of three hours over two days. Q95 staff collect much of the funds for Linton. Many other Dominicans also dropped their pledges directly to Linton or into his designated bank account, while others paid their contributions at UWP constituency offices.
