Meanwhile, Dominica’s Chief Environment Officer, Anthony Scotland says, disposing of waste at the designated Landfill was extremely challenging, as this was also a very large collection of bulky waste which has not been seen since hurricane David in 1978.
Scotland said there were insufficient trucks available to transport the waste collected yesterday to the Landfill, therefore, so the transportation of waste will continue throughout today.
Scotland said he is however satisfied, in that he believes the Dominican public is now fully aware of the dangers of the Zika virus, and the measures needed to be taken to eliminate Mosquito breeding grounds, and prevent the spread of the Zika virus.
