Dominica's First Prime Minister Patrick John is still at the La Meynard hospital in Martinique, after no arrangements were made by those responsible, to have him airlifted back to Dominica. John, who is reportedly suffering from a heart condition, was discharged from the hospital on Friday January 15, 2016 and was supposed to have returned home on Sunday January 17, 2016. However, according to Journalist Carlisle Jno Baptiste, the Dominica authorities responsible for making the necessary arrangements to ensure that Mr John was airlifted, seem to be playing 'hard ball'. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit indicated that the Government was prepared to fully finance Patrick John's recovery.
He stated... “I have also communicated that to the Secretary of the Cabinet who has been in touch with the family…” adding that the person who coordinates the transportation of people seeking medical attention overseas has also been communicated with. He continued “We have in fact written to the family indicating that the government is prepared to underwrite the expenses of Mr Patrick John”.
