DOMLEC presents 4 scholarships to 4 students to attend Secondary school in the upcoming school year7/21/2016 Dominica’s sole Electricity company, DOMLEC, presented four scholarships to 4 students attending secondary school in the upcoming academic school year. This forms part of DOMLEC’s scholarship program, which began in 1986, and has reportedly benefited many students, particularly those who were successful at the Grade Six National Assessment, who did not merit a government scholarship or bursary.
The recipients of this year’s DOMLEC scholarships are: Shamarley Carbon, Emilio Blanc, Jehovanni Benjamin, and Johanan Lewis. The students will be attending the North-East Comprehensive School, and the St. Mary’s Academy. Human Resource and Administration Manager, Phyllis Alexander-Toussaint at a presentation ceremony on Wednesday morning had this to say; “As you begin your journey into high school, I encourage you to learn the words ‘self-confidence’ and ‘perseverance’. You have the ability, power, and talent to excel at high school,” she stated. “Don’t worry what others think about you. Worry about how you see yourself, and what you ought to do to succeed.”
