DOMLES advises Dominicans not to attempt to touch any down lines since they may still be energized9/29/2016 Following the passage of Tropical Storm Matthew, Dominica’s Sole Electricity Company’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Adina Bellot- Valentine, has told customers they should not attempt to touch any down lines since they may still be energized. A number of lines have been down and some areas in the country are still without power. Bellot-Valentine stressed that safety is DOMLEC’s number one priority both for its employees and customers. “We don’t want any mishaps so we want people to be as safe possible so we can carry our work in a safe environment”. She added that the company is aware of the areas that are without power. However, localized outages must be reported. She said the main focus now is to restore power to the greater parts of the island. “The south is out, the east is out, the north is out, certain parts of the west coast are out, some of the Valley is still out,” she noted. “So we have quite a bit of work before us today, and we are trying to see how much of that we can restore.” She said there was a landslide in the PADU area but it did not affect DOMLEC’s power station there. “Once we can make connection with the station then we will be able to utilize the resources of the hydro, but for now we have not gone there yet because we have down lines in the area and so the scouting has to continue to ensure that we do this as safe as possible,” Bellot-Valentine explained. DOMLEC customers are advised to call 448-4237, 811 or 255-6002 to report any damage or any concerns. Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Domlec Adina Bellot- Valentine
