Despite efforts by that organization to rid the country of illegal drugs, there’s still an influx of cocaine and marijuana entering and circulating in and around Dominica. Just last week authorities conducted a sting operation in Stockfarm that led to the finding of cocaine valued at some 5.7million dollars, the biggest drug bust in a very long time. But Jacinta Bannis says if drug abuse prevention is taught at an early age at the home, the problem could be lessened. Clip Head of the drug abuse prevention unit Jacinta Bannis January is being observed as drug awareness month in Dominica. An exhibition in LaPlaine, outreach programs in various communities, visits to preschools and activities at the Roseau Public Library are some of the activities planned for this month’s observance. The signature activity is an award ceremony for peer helpers in Dominica. This year’s observance is being held under the theme, “Let’s develop our lives, our communities, our identities without drugs.”
