Mariners and other sea users especially on the Eastern Coast (north to east to south), are advised to remain in port due to dangerously high seas and battering waves over the weekend.
A weather advisory issued by the Dominica Meteorological office says high winds are expected to impact the island beginning tomorrow Saturday 17th December, followed by dangerous seas, that will begin affecting the island late tomorrow Saturday into Sunday. These strong winds will be accompanied by sharp passing showers at times. Winds are expected to reach 31mph or 50 km per hour, with higher gusts, and seas are expected to peak near 14 to 16 feet. All sea users, especially on the eastern coast, and persons living near the coast are therefore advised to take all necessary precautions to protect life and property, as these conditions are expected to continue into the first half of the upcoming week. A small craft warning and high surf advisory will be in effect from tomorrow Saturday afternoon, for dangerous seas & high winds
