Economist Dr. Thompson Fontaine is not surprised at the findings in a CBS ‘60 Minutes’ investigative report, as aired in a Televised program on Sunday night, which featured the countries in the Caribbean which have engaged in and utilize a Citizenship Investment Program.
Dr. Fontaine said according to CBS, it is clear that Dominica may be engaging in the practice of selling Diplomatic passports to wealthy and shady individuals. he stressed that Prime Minister Skerrit failed to represent Dominica in an interview with CBS reporter Steve Kroft, just as Dominica’s opposition Leader Lennox Linton and Antigua PM Gaston Brown, represented Antigua & Barbuda in interviews with Kroft. Fontaine feels that PM Skerrit should have answered the questions posed by Journalist Steve Kroft, regarding Dominica’s CBI program. Fontaine concluded that Prime Minister Skerrit failed to take the opportunity to clear the air on the findings of the CBS investigative report on the CBI program, and its findings as regards sales of passports to dubious persons.
