Eight citizens are now unemployed as the Dominica Agricultural Producers and Exporters Limited (DAPEX) was forced to shut down operations due to certain difficulties.
According to reports, some former employees say they have not been paid for four months and are trying to figure out what next they should do. “We are being owed four months salaries, from July to October,” one former employee told the Dominica News Online. “They let us go without a cent and we do not know yet when we will get paid and if we will get what is due to us. There is zero redundancy payment based on the laws on Dominica.” The former employee who preferred to remain anonymous added that a meeting was held between the company and shareholders earlier this Monday. The purpose of this meeting was to explain to the shareholders that the company was facing difficulties and was insolvent, Michael Williams was appointed liquidator at the meeting.
