Environment Minister reports slow but steady progress in building resilience against climate change8/5/2016 Environment Minister Dr Kenneth Darroux describes Dominica's progress towards building resilience against the negative impacts of climate change, as slow but steady. He was hoping to see more visible and tangible results on the ground. However; this is not the case. In December 2013, Government announced that Dominica was to receive part of 103 million dollars from the World Bank's Climate Investment Fund to implement government's strategic program for climate change resilience. The pilot program for Climate resilience (PPCR) assists developing countries to integrate climate resilience with development planning, build on national adaptation programs of action and other existing efforts. The project began in August 2014 and is expected to last for 6 years. Dr Darroux says preparatory work is being done for some of the major projects. Dr Darroux is of the view that having direct access to these funds would speed up the process by which things are done.
