Fire & Ambulance Service confirms it responded to 2 fires in Grand Bay & Woodford Hill yesterday2/1/2017 The Dominica Fire & Ambulance Service confirms that it responded to two fires yesterday Tuesday 31st January 2017, one involved an unoccupied wooden house owned by Morrison Commodore in Grand Bay at about 2:00 am, and the other was a vehicular fire in Woodford Hill. That is according to Public Relations Officer Wayne Letang. That house was completely destroyed by the fire, and an adjacent unoccupied building said to be owned by Elizabeth Commodore was partially destroyed. Investigations into the cause of the fire and the cost of damages are ongoing. Meantime, crews from the Douglas Charles Airport Station responded to a motor vehicle fire at Palm Tree in Woodfordhill, at approximately 2:55am on Tuesday 31st January, Letang reported. PRO Wayne Letang also confirmed that a 16-seater Toyota Hiace passenger bus, driven by Dale Smith, collided with a utility pole before being engulfed in flames. The vehicle was completely destroyed. There were no reports of injuries, and no passengers were reported to have been in the bus at the time of the accident.
