Foreign Affairs Minister, Francine Baron, is announcing the Dominica Government’s support for the peaceful reunification of China.
“We continue to stand firm with the People’s Republic of China, and continue to urge for the peaceful reunification of China,” Baron said, at a ceremony held for the Chinese Embassy’s presentation of a $177,000-computer lab, at the Newtown Primary School on Friday. Since the separation of the two countries in 1949, the Chinese government has unsuccessfully attempted to recover Taiwan. However, In November 2015, a historic meeting between Chinese President, Xi Jinping and Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan took place. This was considered a milestone by world leaders, in the forging of peace between these two entities, since their split in 1949. Meanwhile, Baron added “China, like us, have their own challenges, but, notwithstanding those challenges, they reach out to Dominica, and many other countries around the world, helping us to address our development challenges,” she remarked.
