Former IMF Economist deeply concerned over abuse being reported by Dominicans on Social Media12/9/2016 Former IMF Economist Dr Thomson Fontaine is expressing deep concern over stories of abuse being reported by Dominicans on Social Media. The ‘#Leve Dominik’ Group spearheaded by Creators, Delroy Williams and Khadijah Moore launched an abuse Awareness Campaign on Facebook, on Sunday 27th November 2016.
‘Leve Dominik’ means ‘wake up Dominica’ in the Kweyol dialect. According to the group’s public relations coordinator Delroy Williams, the initiative was inspired by an ongoing campaign in Barbados dubbed ‘Life in leggings’. Williams said, “I thought that it was an important initiative that could really help Dominica with sexual abuse and in other areas of social deviant behaviour”. Williams teamed up with Khadijah Moore in creating a platform that was shared on Facebook, and approached various abuse victims, to share their stories. Dr. Fontaine says he is pleased with #Leve Dominik initiative.
