Former National Footballer Kalunda jailed after pleading guilty to stealing Jigsaw & Laptop computer4/20/2016 Former National Footballer Kalunda has been sent to jail for four (4) months, after pleading guilty to stealing a Jigsaw & a Laptop Computer. The items valued at EC$2,486, were stolen from Sea World Guest House on April 16, 2016. He appeared in court today Tuesday April 19, 2016.
According to the facts as read in court, Faustin, who admits he has a problem with drug abuse, entered the premises and was caught with the jigsaw and the laptop. The police were called, and he was arrested. He pleaded guilty, and told the magistrate that he had a serious drug problem, and “did not know where to turn.” He asked that he not be sent to jail, since he pleaded guilty to the offence. However, court documents reveal that he had been reprimanded by several magistrates, while others sentenced him to jail for similar offences. Before sentencing him, Magistrate Sherma Blaize told him that she was sure that he had been to rehab. He acknowledged that to have been the case. She then advised him to make a mental decision to quit drugs. She said, “You can make a mental decision, it is all you, I have given you a suspended sentence, and told you don’t come back, and you continue to do the same thing; your parents have tried their very best with you”. The court was also advised that there was a warrant for his arrest, for not appearing before the court for another matter that was pending.
