Former police officer Angelo Allen worries Boetica and Delices residents have accepted the newly erected Bailey bridge as a permanent solution. Allen says when a new generation turns Dominica into a “real country”, people will be become bolder, in responding to issues that affect their everyday lives. Meanwhile, Allen laments that Government is taking advantage of those who are contented with whatever is handed down to them. This was his reaction to the comment made in an article by La Plaine MP Petter Saint Jean, that life has returned to normal in the villages of Delices and Boetica, and that the residents are thankful for the restoration of access to the communities via completion of a bailey bridge. Allen believes it is a mistake to compare Dominica to other more developed Caribbean countries. He says Dominicans seem contented with whatever is handed to them, and the Government has taken advantage of that fact.
