Former MP for LaPlaine & Former Minister of Sports Ron Green says, current LaPlaine MP Petter St. Jean’s statements regarding the lighting project to be undertaken on the LaPlaine playing field, is misleading. Recently Mr. St. Jean said history was in the making, as this is the first time any community in the South East has had a lighted playing field. Mr. Green says however, what the current MP said is incorrect, and there is no history in the making, because the playing field in LaPlaine already has lights, and Mr St Jean should more accurately have said “we are going to improve the lighting that already exists on the LaPlaine playing field”. Meanwhile, Mr Green hopes the US 61,000 that has been earmarked for lights on the LaPlaine playing field, will be managed properly, so as to ensure “improvements to the lighting system which already exists on the LaPlaine playing field.” Reports indicate that Mr. Green had previously called for an investigation to have been conducted, into what he calls ‘the funds pumped into the constituency for the LaPlaine playing field’. Mr. Green contends that whereas it is important to improve the lighting of the field, it is even more important to “fix the condition of the playing field,” as a means of facilitating training, and hosting sports fixtures.
