Government promises to provide financial support to some charitable organizations in Dominica12/16/2016 Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says Government will soon provide financial support to some charitable organizations in Dominica, after he and the Minister for Social Services, Family & Gender Affairs, Catherine Daniel, held a meeting with those involved in running those institutions on Thursday.
These institutions include; Parents Advocating for the inclusion of Children with Disabilities, the Dominica Infirmary, House of Hope, Grotto, Mahaut Senior Citizens Home, Operation Youth Quake, Northern District Home for the Aged, CHANCES and Workshop for the Blind. Mr Skerrit said “The idea was to hear from them as to how things were, what are the challenges they are experiencing, and how they believed that the Government can assist in addressing those challenges. I am very pleased with the discussion; I think it has given all of us a better appreciation of the challenges, of not only one institution, but each of us knowing of the different institutions and the challenges.” He says Government will arrange further meetings with these Charity institutions, to further understand the difficulties, they encounter on a day to day basis.
