Government says it is continuing to make efforts toward achieving universal access to the internet1/20/2016 Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says his government is continuing to work towards achieving universal access to the internet, at every secondary school on the island. This venture is said to form part of the Government's one tablet per child initiative. Over 8,000 tablets have reportedly been distributed to secondary schools and state college students. Mr. Skerrit was addressing a presentation of 200 tablets to the Dominica Government from Citizenship by Investment Program Agent Apex Services. Meanwhile, Mr. Skerrit says they will also seek to make Wi-Fi available at designated public spaces.
Recently, free wireless broadband was commissioned at the Botanic Gardens at the cost of $210,000. This project was implemented by Digicel Business Partners in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC), DOMLEC, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Information & Technology.
