Ten months later and return to a state of normalcy is becoming more of a reality for the residents of Petite Savanne.
This as the Government of Dominica Thursday formally signed a contract with Montreal Management Consultants Est (MMCE) for the building of houses for the resettlement of Petite Savanne residents displaced by Tropical Storm Erika. The storm which rocked the island in August 2015, left approximately 283 residents of that community displaced. 49.6 acres of land at Bellevue Chopin has been acquired by Government for the resettlement and Housing Minister, Reginald Austrie, says the land use design proposed by MMCE will meet the residential, commercial and communal requirements of the resettled community. According to the proposal, 87 percent of the land use will be targeted for housing, 12 percent for commercial use and one percent for communal use.
