Officials of the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) are anticipating an increase in visitor arrivals for this year's WCMF, but a recent incident in Guadeloupe may affect this outcome. Just last week, a French teenager was allegedly stabbed to death by a Dominican teen sparking outrage in the French territory. Many took to the streets in Guadeloupe in protest action while others took to social media expressing their concern and displeasure. DFC Marketing Executive, Leroy Charles, says the Dominica Government will be intervening in the matter. Meanwhile he says the DFC will continue to do its work on the ground to reassure the French patrons that Dominica is a peaceful country. He further urged Dominicans to refrain from responding to the incident with violence. These comments come after videos by both French and Dominican nationals surfaced on social media reacting to the incident.
