This year’s Annual Diocesan World Youth Day Rally will be held in Grand bay on Saturday March 19, 2016, under the theme as declared by Pope Francis, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” This activity commences at 12pm, with a praise and worship procession from the Grand Bay community centre to the Roman Catholic Church
According to Pope Francis, we must ask the Lord to give us the grace to be merciful to those who do us wrong, as Jesus did at his crucifixion. He stated that mercy is the only way to overcome evil. However, while justice is necessary, by itself, it is not enough, mercy must accompany justice. Featured at this year’s rally will be the Parish Banner Competition, where all participating parishes must design and present banners based on the theme of Mercy. His lordship, Bishop Gabriel Malzaire will be present throughout the day, and will be the chief celebrant at the closing Eucharistic Liturgy to begin at 3:45pm.
