The Dominica Cricket Association (DCA) will host a cricket team from Guadeloupe this weekend to assist in developing the sport in the French Overseas Territory.
According to a release, the Guadeloupe team will arrive on Friday, November 11th and will move to the stadium for a Press Conference at 11:30 a.m. The team will play two T20 matches at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium (WPSS) during their stay. The first match will be played against a President’s XI on Friday from 2:30 p.m and the other against the Tremors Cricket Club, champions of the Digicel Premier League, on Saturday, November 12th, from 1:30p.m. The Guadeloupe cricket team will consist of 15 players. Ten officials will accompany the team along with 12 supporters and three media personnel. President of the DCA, Emmanuel Nanthan, said this visit will be the first of many between the two islands. “This is the first time that Guadeloupe will be playing cricket in Dominica so this is just the beginning of the strengthening of ties between us in terms of cricket. Most of the members on the Guadeloupe team are Dominicans and St. Lucians and we are assisting them in promoting and developing cricket in Guadeloupe. Through this effort, the French media and officials will be able to gain a better understanding of and appreciation for the game of cricket and it will also provide us with another opportunity to showcase the talent of our cricketers in Dominica,” said Nanthan.
