Health Minister says Dominica made strides fighting HIV and Aids, but advises against complacency12/2/2016 Health Minister Dr Kenneth Darroux says although Dominica has made significant strides in its fight against HIV & Aids, citizens should not become complacent. Dominica joined the rest of the world in observance of World Aids Day Thursday December 1 under the themes "Take the Challenge - End Aids" and "Hands up for HIV prevention." One such achievement is that the country is getting closer to achieving the 90, 90, 90 targets, reporting fewer than 20 new HIV infections, and fewer than 10 Aids related deaths annually over the past 5 years. The 90, 90, 90 is an ambitious treatment target to help end the Aids epidemic. Dominica was also among the first eastern Caribbean countries to eliminate the transmission of HIV/Aids from mothers to children. And although the country has made a tremendous stride in the area of HIV/Aids Dr Darroux says more is to be done. Health Minister Dr Kenneth Darroux
