Health Minister wants greater focus placed on building communities in the fight against drug abuse
Health Minister Dr. Kenneth Darroux wants greater focus placed on building communities, in the fight against drug abuse, and the illicit drug trade here.
In his address marking the observance of Drug Awareness Month here, Dr. Darroux said over 231 persons visited the emergency room at the PMH with drug related illness in 2012 and 2013, while the Acute Psychiatric Unit continues to admit and diagnose patients on the ward, who suffer from drug induced psychosis.
He says developing one's community is another way of effecting social change.
Just recently, Roseau South MP, Joshua Francis, issued a call for a proper assessment to be conducted on the community of Silver Lake.He said it was time for a vision to be developed, geared at uplifting the image and welfare of this community, which has been a haven for drug cartels
