Health Ministry concerned about the number of young people who are caught up in the use of drugs2/2/2016 The Ministry of Health says it remains concerned over the number of young persons who get caught up in the negative impact of drug use here. Addressing a Peer Helpers Awards ceremony last week, PS in the Ministry of Health, Helen Royer, says notwithstanding the enormous investments made in the youth by the Government, they continue to see negative impacts of drug use on individuals, particularly the youth. She says the Peer helper program is one initiative aimed at assisting the youth in becoming more aware of the dangers of drugs. Royer told the youth gathered that their role is pivotal to the success of the nation. " You have the potential to be counted among those who are achievers...." she said as she urged them to stay away from drugs. The Peer Helpers Awards was the last in a host of events held to commemorate Drug Awareness Month, celebrated in January, under the theme " Let's develop our lives, our communities, our identities, without drugs".
