India’s High Commissioner-designate to Dominica presents credentials to President Charles Savarin1/12/2017 India’s new High Commissioner to Dominica, His Excellency Bishwadip Dey, presented his credentials to President Charles Savarin, yesterday Wednesday 11th January 2017, at the State House.
President Savarin advised him that Dominica appreciated proposals of expertise in agriculture from India. He said, “We appreciate the proposal of your government to provide the services of an Agro- processing expert and services of an expert in the field of horticulture, as agriculture continues to play a significant role in our economy. It is my hope that during your tenure we will see progress in these proposed areas of cooperation.” President Savarin also advised the new ambassador, that Dominica is committed to the establishment of a green economy, towards relying on geothermal and hydro for 100% of its electricity. Meanwhile, the new High Commissioner said India and Dominica can corporate in areas such as, “information, communication & technology, education, Agro-processing Industries, renewable energy among others. He promised that during his tenure as High Commissioner to Dominica, he will do his best to promote corporation and friendship between the two countries. India had set up the Centre of Excellence in Information Technology at the Dominica State College, in collaboration with the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. That centre was officially opened on 3rd June 2016.
