The tax e-filing system which was launched in 2014, is geared at making it easier and quicker for persons to file and pay their taxes, without having to go to the IRD. It also provides all registered users with the ability to access their account from anywhere around the world.
Ian Michael Anthony of the IRD's Design Planning & Monitoring section says, using the E-services will help eliminate the problems associated with late filing. Taxpayers can file their taxes online by visiting the website www.eservices.gov.dm. The deadline for filing taxes is March 31st 2016. Meanwhile, IRD have pointed to late or last minute filing, as one of the reasons for delays in processing tax payers’ refunds. Every year, tax payers complain of the late payments of refunds even after filing prior to the deadline date.
