The Ministry of Tourism announces an expanded flight schedule to Dominica and the rest of the Caribbean via InterCaribbean airlines. InterCaribbean flew its first ATR airplane to Dominica on March 15. An official ceremony was conducted to commemorate the occasion, which included a water cannon salute symbolic of an aircraft's first flight to a location. The Dominica Air and Seaports Authority sent a delegation to speak with the ATR pilots.
InterCaribbean Airways has deployed the ATR 42-500 on its Eastern Caribbean route system. In the summer, the airline will run a mix of Embracer 120 (30 seats) and ATR 42 (48 seats) services to Dominica, with the ATR 42 replacing the Embracer 120. The new schedule will include daily flights to Dominica as well as connections to other locations, allowing travelers to easily plan their Caribbean vacations. InterCaribbean will run multiple daily flights into The Nature Island from St. Lucia and Barbados, with options for direct or one-stop flights. Passengers' ability to travel Dominica will improve as the number of flights available to them increases from eleven to seventeen per week. Furthermore, an interline arrangement with British Airways (BA) from the United Kingdom provides greater convenience to travelers. British Airways connects with InterCaribbean Airways at Barbados on a daily basis, providing for same-day connections between the UK and Dominica
