Jamaican politician Faye Reid Jacobs has allegedly committed suicide, according to media reports5/9/2016 Media reports have revealed Jamaican politician Faye Reid Jacobs is allegedly believed to have committed suicide. Reports indicate that Jacobs was found dead around 8:30pm on Sunday, and while circumstances of her death have not been released, it is believed she drank a poisonous substance, some of which was found near to her body.
Jacobs is a businesswoman who contested the Westmoreland Central constituency for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in a 2014 By-Election, and lost. The Jamaica Gleaner reported that the JLP expressed shock at her passing. A banker by profession, the Jamaica Observer said Jacobs held senior executive positions in several major Caribbean banks. She was a founding Director of the Caribbean Integrated Financial Services Ltd, and was also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (London) and a Fellow of the IFS School of Finance (formerly the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London), who had accreditation from the University of London at the Master’s level, in International Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviours. She was also listed in the Who’s Who of Professionals in 2000, and in the Jamaica Directory of Personalities.
