Joshua Francis ‘9-a-Side’ Loubiere Football League resumes with the first of the semi-final matches11/16/2016 The Joshua Francis ‘9-a-Side’ Loubiere Football League resumed last weekend with the first of the semi-final matches
On Saturday Freddos Taxi Gunnerz United defeated defending league champions Block Boys FC via penalty shootout in what was a keenly contested match up. It was a tale of 2 halves, with Block Boys FC dominating most of the play and the score line in the first half, taking a 2-0 lead into the interval from two well placed finishes off the boots of Nigel ‘Froggy’ Sanderson and a late penalty conceded being brilliantly saved by their custodian Darrius Ettienne. The second half proved quite different however, as Gunnerz United reversed the tide, taking the action to the defending champs. A 60th minute assist from Kyle Delsol to his brother and strike partner Darren Delsol finally got the Gunnerz on the scorecard and shortly thereafter roles interchanged with Darren supplying Kyle for the equalizer. Further chances were created by both teams, but none were successful, the match remaining tied at 2 after 90 minutes with penalties to decide the winner. Gunnerz United prevailed 5 to 3 in that discipline, converting all of their allotted spot kicks to book their place in the grand finale. Andre Victor, Darren Delsol, Fitzgerald Doctrove, Kyle Delsol and Najee Williams converted penalties for Gunnerz United; with Nigel ‘Froggy’ Sanderson, Delbert Graham & Dylan Carlisle the scorers for Block Boys. The league continues on Saturday 19th with semi-final #2.
