Freelance journalist Carlisle Jno Baptiste is expressing concern over the public manner in which an executive member of the Opposition UWP is being asked to resign from office.
In a public statement issued on March 8, 2016, UWP Leader Lennox Linton said, given the serious allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards a minor being faced by an executive member of the party, he believes resignation from office while the matter is before the courts is the honourable thing to do. He said resignation from office is the only honourable course of action available to public officials in the leadership of political parties facing such allegations of serious inappropriate behaviour. And that is precisely what the UWP Team Dominica expects of the accused executive member. Journalist Carlisle Jno Baptiste says he has some issues with that statement, and he questioned the amount of support that was given to the executive member. He says the matter should have been dealt with internally.
