Jullone Burnette of Wesley is Grambling State University Valedictorian in Fall 2016 graduating class12/19/2016 In a ceremony held on December 16, 2016 in Louisiana, in the USA, Jullone Burnette of Wesley was named Grambling State University Valedictorian, in the Fall 2016 graduating class, after completing a 4-year matriculation towards a BSc in Computer Science, as his major.
Seven other Dominicans graduated at the top of the class, with Bachelor’s Degrees and honours in their respective fields. Nadisha H Guavo, BSc Accounting; Alicia Nanthan, BSc Accounting; Delana St. Jean, BSc Biology; Merlissa Hypolite, BSc Management; Barry Bontiff, BSc Computer Information Systems; Amanda Hypolite, BSc Accounting; and Shannon Watty, BSc Criminal Justice. In his valedictory address, Burnette said his biggest challenge was leaving Dominica and his family and friends, but his desire to grow and advance kept him on the path to his ultimate success. He stated “The path before me was never clear and straightforward. But I had a thirst to acquire more knowledge, to do better, to be better.” He told his fellow graduates never let doubt hinder their success. Jullone is the son of Julius Burnette and Geraldine Joseph-Burnette. He is a former student of the Wesley Primary School, and the St. Andrews High School. He hopes to pursue graduate studies in Software Development. He encourages others who desire similar achievements, to work hard towards their goals, and never take opportunities for granted.
