Kalinago Bus drivers dissatisfied with allotted bus terminal location, and confused by mixed signals10/20/2016 Bus drivers plying the route from the Kalinago Territory to Roseau have signaled their dissatisfaction with the relocation of their bus stop in Roseau. The drivers argue that, when the Kalinago bus stop was located near the business premise of Save-A-Lot Supermarket in Roseau, the working conditions were better.
However, due to the construction of the 18 Million Dollar West Bridge, a number of bus stops in the area were relocated. The bus drivers said the new location which is in the Baytown area, next to the business premises of Raffoul & Company, just across the river from the China/Dominica Friendship Bridge, is putting them and their passengers at a disadvantage. One Driver said “He and his colleagues are concerned over a DOWASCO Sewage Treatment Plant nearby, and the odors it exudes, and that vagrants in the area are causing problems.” He added, “The bus drivers are confused by the conflicting information that they received from the authorities, some are advising that they leave the area, while others said that they have no issues with the drivers remaining near Save-A-Lot. We are trying to move back into the town” he stated.
