Kalinago Residents say thanks to government for a Computer Centre which was opened in October 20152/17/2016 Residents of the Kalinago territory are expressing gratitude to government for a Computer Centre which opened in October 2015. Fifteen (15) computers from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) were donated to the centre.
The objective of this program is to provide computer literacy training for residents of the Kalinago Territory. It was developed by Community Development Officer Natasha Green, and funded by the NTRC’s Universal Service Fund. Ms Green stated that “young people of the Kalinago Territory no longer have to rely on youth centres in Marigot, Castle Bruce or Roseau to get trained in Computer Science.” “Additionally, adults in our area, who were unable to receive training, can now be trained at the Centre. We basically wanted to provide training within the parameters of the community where it is accessible and affordable, and can be under our supervision. This Centre allows that,” she explained. Ms. Green further informed that currently an Introduction to Computer Course is ongoing for adults at the Centre.
