Leandra Lander and Delroy Williams take top spots in Cultural Division Literary competitions11/11/2016 The cultural division has announced the winners of the Independence 2016 Literary competitions.
In the English poetry category, Leandra Lander copped the 1st prize with a poem entitled 'words to my unborn daughter'. The 2nd prize went to Judith Margaret Alexis with the poem 'God bless the nature isle' while the 3rd prize went to Matthew Samuel with a poem entitled 'standing tall'. In the Kweyol poetry category, Leandra Lander once again copped the first prize with the poem entitled 'Le Mwen Mo'. The 2nd prize went to Algernon Ducreay and the 3rd prize to Eustace Selborne. Meanwhile, in the English short story, Delroy Nesta Williams captured 1st prize with 'Bureau de change'. The 2nd prize went to Yakima Chantelle Cuffy and 3rd prize to Christabel Charles. The winners will receive their prizes and present their work at a ceremony to be held later this month.
