Lennox Linton says his lawyers will respond to Keiron Pinard-Byrne's demand for $80,000 in 7 days1/11/2016 Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton says he will be responding to a letter served to him on behalf of Chartered Accountant Kieron Pinard-Byrne demanding that he pays Pinard-Byrne $80,000 within seven days. On October 12th 2015, the London-based Privy Council ruled in favour of Chattered Accountant, Keiron Pinard-Byrne in the matter involving then journalist Linton, which centred around the Layou River Economic Citizenship Program, and the Layou River Hotel project. Speaking on State radio, Pinard-Byrne said “The High Court award against him is EC$50,000 plus $14,000 in legal costs plus 5% per annum interest, on that judgement from its date until the current time, which brings the total amount due to just under $80,000.” Addressing the issue on Q95's Hot Seat Monday, Linton said when the Privy council issued its decision, it requested submissions on cost from both sides by November 2nd 2015, and asked for responses by November 16, 2015. He said he has met both deadlines and is awaiting the final cost determination.
Meanwhile, Linton says he has been in this battle for 14 years. He says while he will respond to the demand letter issued by Pinard-Byrne's lawyers, he has an issue with a part of the demand letter, which indicates that should he fail to comply with the demands, enforcement proceedings will be instituted against him and or any property that he owns, or has interests in.
