Lennox Linton says the drive to raise a total of EC$78,000 to assist him in meeting legal fees, payable to Keiron Pinnard-Byrne, is going well. Linton, speaking on Q95's Hot Seat Friday morning, said so far, EC$42,000 has been collected from pledges made by Dominicans both here and abroad. This is in addition to some $30,000 that was carried over from an earlier radiothon that was hosted on Q95fm Radio for him. A Privy council court order has given Linton until February 22nd 2016 to pay some £20,000 to Chartered Accountant Kieron Pinard-Byrne for defamation. He says the process of payment will begin next Monday. A balance of $6,000 is still needed, but Linton says he is confident that they will collect these funds in time.
Recently well over $100,000 was raised through contributions by Dominicans both here and abroad, to assist Linton in paying almost $80,000 to Pinard-Byrne as ordered by the High Court, in the same matter. The balance of some $30,000 left over from that effort is what is being put towards meeting Privy Council order.
