One of the coordinators Delroy Williams, is looking forward to continuing to bring awareness of the plight of women, with respect to harassment, sexual abuse, rape and other such social ills in 2017.
#LévéDomnik, which is the Créole for ‘Wake Up Dominica,’ encourages women, girls, men and boys to wake up, stand up and raise their voices against sexual harassment, molestation, all forms of assault, rape, domestic violence, etc… by simply tell their stories anonymously, in their own words using that hashtag. Williams told host of Q95’s talk show “to the point”, Dr Thomson Fontaine, about the group’s plans to bring greater recognition to the campaign. He said they will be doing focus group meetings, putting on symposiums for abused women, and training for some of the abused victims to become advocates. Williams says they are looking forward to doing awareness activities in January, and teaming up with a number of agencies across Dominica including the Bureau of Gender Affairs and the Life Line Ministries. Williams says the feedback has been overwhelming and he appreciates the fact that people have entrusted their stories to the campaign coordinators. He thanks the public for being supportive in the way that they have embraced the campaign, which is being coordinated by Khadijah Moore and Williams.
