#LévéDomnik place sexual abuse issues forefront as women here share horrific abusive experiences12/2/2016 Photo Credit: Khadijah Moore Facebook Page Dominican women have taken over social media, sharing disturbing and gut-wrenching accounts of daily experiences of disrespectful, threatening and abusive behaviour in both public and private spaces at the hands of male strangers, friends, classmates, colleagues and family members. The hashtag #LévéDomnik has been spearheaded by Delroy Williams and Khadijah Moore. This follows a similar campaign #lifeinleggings being used in Barbados as a tool to raise awareness of the plight of women, in relation to harassment, sexual abuse, rape and other social ills. Williams, in an interview with Q95 news, says since being launched on November 27, 2016, they have received over 300 stories of rape, molestation, sexual and child abuse. Meanwhile, Williams says the next step will be identifying avenues for the empowerment of the survivors. To share their experiences, persons are being urged to write their story and share it on Facebook using the hashtag#LévéDomnik; or send it anonymously to Delroy Nesta Williams or Khadijah Moore.
