Meanwhile, Lifeline Ministries in collaboration with the Dominica National Council of Women (DNCW) will be launching their Helpline Service this week.
According to a communiqué, this 24-hour phone service is for people who want to know where to go for help in recognising, reporting and recovering from sexual assault or abuse. It has been established thanks to a grant of CAD $25,275 from the Canada Fund For Local Initiatives. This phone service comes as officials battle with an increase in sexual abuse, particularly child sexual abuse here. In that regard, an open day will be held at DNCW's office on Tuesday March 8th to better inform the public on the work of both Lifeline Ministries and the DNCW. From tomorrow, the public will be able to call 1-800-DNCW and speak to a trained responder and receive advice information and support 24/7 by calling 1-800-DNCW or 1-800-3629. Meanwhile, the DNCW's office has also received a facelift and is now said to be better equipped to welcome those who need a safe place to find advice, support and many new friends.
