Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, has described an incident which occurred at a local cemetery on Tuesday evening as very dangerous given the signal it sends to Dominicans resident overseas. Husband and Wife, Lennox and Frances Robin, who were arrested during a funeral at the Roseau Roman Catholic Cemetery have been charged with one count of battery on Carlene Jean Marie when they appeared before a Roseau Magistrate Wednesday morning. The two, represented by Attorney Kondwani Williams, have pleaded not guilty to the charge. According to reports, the couple are here for the funeral and burial of Frances' mother and were arrested by the police who came armed with a warrant at the cemetery. It is alleged that Frances Robin poked Jean Marie, who was her mother's caretaker. Many are questioning whether a warrant for arrest was necessary and Linton says this does not augur well for Dominica. Both have vowed to totally clear their name in the matter they have informed the US Department of State of their ordeal in Dominica since they are US citizens.
