Local Finesse Beauty designer/owner Kimara Matthew launched “Creole meets Finesse on the Runway” on Saturday July 30, outside the Prevost Cinemall in Roseau. This is her second major fashion extravaganza.
Matthew says despite the inclement weather the event was well attended. “Basically, we got a good response from the public,” she said. “We were able to meet with quite a few persons, getting the word out there, to let people know that the show is on, and why they should come and support us. We were encouraging people to support the initiative as we are young persons.” She says people are looking forward to attending and supporting the actual event, and see it as a positive initiative. “We are in the promotional phase, and our focus is to get into contact with as many people as we can,” she added. Matthew said the event is open to accommodating other young entrepreneurs, especially in the areas of culinary arts and preparations of hors d’oeuvres. She is also reaching out to more sponsors who are willing to come on board to provide support. Whereas the event had been earlier scheduled to have taken place at Alliance Français on Elmshall Road, Matthew confirms that the show will now take place at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on 10th September, from 5:30 pm, in order to hopefully accommodate a larger audience. Tickets cost $45 in advance and $55 at the gate, and can be purchased at Finesse Boutique located on King George V Street in Roseau close to Symes Zee Restaurant in Roseau. Delivery will be facilitated for persons within Roseau. Matthew is promoting the raffle of an early bird prize of a tablet on the night of the show, which can be won by one of the first 50 persons who purchase tickets. She hosted her first major fashion show, “All White Affair”, on May 30, 2015 at the Fort Young Hotel. She said that event was “very successful.”
