Marigot DLP Association rejects UWP’s Vote of No Confidence against Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit10/18/2016 Dr. Martin Christmas, who contested the Marigot Constituency on a DLP ticket says, The Marigot Dominica Labour Party (DLP) Association is disappointed in a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, to be tabled by Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, in parliament on Wednesday.
Recently the UWP made the announcement that PM Skerrit has mismanaged Dominica’s economy however, Dr. Christmas who was defeated in the 2014 general election by leader of the United Workers Party Lennox Linton, said the people of Marigot are embarrassed by the move, saying it is a waste of parliament’s time. He said “We the people of Marigot and Concord have continued to be embarrassed by the level of poor representation afforded to us by our elected member,” he said in a statement. “His latest act of embarrassment constituted a blatant abuse of parliamentary privilege and a waste of parliament’s time.” He said the association is confident the motion will be swiftly and soundly defeated, noting that the grounds for presenting it has “no merit” and is without substance and factual foundation. He continued, “The people of Marigot have sat silently for two years while they observe non-representation from a “so-called leader.”
