Massacre residents expressing strong concerned about the continuing bad condition of their playing field

​Residents of Massacre are expressing strong concerned about the continuing bad condition of their playing field. They contend that the dumping of debris on the site is posing a serious health risk, especially to children living close to the area. They also fear that the area has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and several villagers are being affected. They appear to be losing patience.
 
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Canefield Urban Council, Simeon Albert, is continuing to call on the residents of the community, to exercise patience. He says the authorities are doing everything in their power to restore the Playing Field.
 
Albert said following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika, dirt and stones were being dumped on the site in an effort to extend the playing field. However, he acknowledged that the area should have already been straightened out, and the grounds should have been levelled, but the machine which was being used, has broken down, and this has stalled work on the site.
 
He says the matter is being addressed, and the playing field will be restored, but the residents of the Massacre community are losing faith, since tropical storm Erika occurred more than four (4) months ago, since 27th August 2015, and they still do not have a playing field for their recreation.
 
Albert however is continuing to tell residents to Just bear patience, as the matter is with the Parliamentary Representative, who will ensure that the playing field is fully restored. He added that whatever is placed on the playing field, is there temporarily, and is not intended to be left there for a very long time. He promised to follow-up with the Parliamentary Representative, Rayburn Blackmoore and the Ministry of Public Works, to get updates as to how soon a machine could be sent to the playing field to continue the works.
