Meanwhile, Mental Health social worker, Tina Alexander says most psychotic patients do not experience depression. She argues that psychotic illnesses differ from depression, and post-natal depression will not cause harm to a child.
Although suicide is an outcome of depression, Alexander says it is uncommon in patients who suffer from post-natal depression. She says however, in extreme cases, if left untreated a patient may neglect their child, whereas in psychosis a patient may harm their child.
