The Ministry of Public Works and Ports says it is currently attending to a landslide in the Sylvania area as a matter of urgency.
The Ministry, in an official statement said "On Wednesday September 07, 2016, the Ministry of Public Works and Ports was made aware of the landslide along the Dr. Nicholas Liverpool Highway in Sylvania. The Ministry recognizes the danger that such a landslide poses to the general public; both motorists and pedestrians". It continued "Since the matter was brought to the attention of the Ministry, protective barriers have been erected and other cautionary measures have been taken in an effort to safeguard members of the public". Officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Ports, including Minister Senator Miriam Blanchard, Engineers and Surveyors, will visit the site again today for further assessment of the area and necessary action. In the meantime, the general public is being advised to exercise extreme caution when travelling in that area.
