MP for the Petite Savanne Constituency Dr Kenneth Darroux says that constituency is in a much better place. The Petite Savanne constituency was one of the worst hit during the passage of TS Erika in August 2015. Residents of Petite Savanne and Dubique were relocated after government deemed the areas unsafe to live in. In October of 2015 government announced that the residents of Dubique who were evacuated due to TS Erika would be resettled in GrandBay. 121 residents of Dubique were evacuated in early September as inclement weather associated with the storm caused significant damage to that community. The first 50 of 300 homes donated to Dominica by the Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro were used by the Dubique community. Government on Thursday signed contracts with MMCE for the resettlement of displaced residents.
