Dominica is getting set to welcome the MV Grandeur of the seas of the vision class of ships of Royal Caribbean Cruise International as the ship makes its inaugural call on Thursday December 15th 2016 at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth. This is the ships only call to Dominica for the 2016/2017 cruise season.
The Grandeur of the Seas has a carrying capacity of 2,446 passengers and 760 crew members. It has eleven decks with features including 8 themed bars and lounges, 2 swimming pools and 4 whirlpools, several youth facilities are scattered about the ship, a variety of restaurants, conference room, library, jogging track, piano area, photo shop and several stores. To mark the ship’s inaugural call, a welcome ceremony to include plaque exchange will be held aboard the ship at 10:00am. Government Officials and tourism stakeholders will also be present to officially welcome the ship’s captain and crew. A total of one hundred and seventy-three (173) cruise calls are projected for the cruise season. This translates to approximately 313,600 passengers. There are 6 more inaugural calls for the 2016/2017 season, from four (4) different cruise lines. Meanwhile, the DDA says it will continue to work with the relevant authorities to enhance the appeal of the City and cruise sites and therefore solicits the cooperation of all tourism stakeholders in ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable visit for the cruise visitors.
