NYCD Children’s Day message asks youth to participate in reviewing Dominica’s National Youth Policy11/18/2016 An NYCD release states that Children’s day is right around the corner, and the youth of Dominica are proud to join the rest of the world in observing Universal Children’s Day on November 20, 2016, which is being celebrated under the theme, “Stop Violence against Children.”
The significance of this year’s theme cannot be overstated as children are subject to many forms of neglect, abuse and violence far too often. In an NYCD children’s day message, Male CARICOM Youth Ambassador for the NYCD Executive Board, Mr. Eardley Pierre, commended the government of Dominica, for efforts to review the Sexual Offenses Act of 1998, and for the recent passage of Amendments to the act, which strengthen the legal framework for the protection of children. Pierre went on to encourage every child and every young person under the age of thirty-five (35), to pay special attention to the process of reviewing Dominica’s National Youth Policy, as this represents a golden opportunity to establish a stronger platform for youth empowerment in Dominica
